The research day on "Web 3, Metaverse and Management" aims to bring together leading researchers and practitioners to exchange and share their research results and initial feedback on all the issues and opportunities of management in this new Internet, the metaverse and more generally the Web3. This conference also provides a platform for academics and practitioners to present and discuss the latest advances, trends and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of management and education and more generally in management sciences through marketing, Information Systems, Logistics, Finance, HR or Strategic Initiatives.
All authors are cordially encouraged to submit their research papers. In addition, quality research contributions describing original and unpublished results of conceptual, constructive, empirical, experimental or theoretical work in all areas of e-commerce and digital marketing are expected. More broadly, given the novelty of the research field, we encourage researchers and management practitioners to submit their work to this research day.
The objectives of this research day are multiple and aim to:
All contributions in the form of articles and/or long abstracts must be rigorous, well integrated into previous publications, "understandable" and educational to allow an audience of researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas capable of drawing up a state of the art of current practices and research and to define priority research paths.
The new wave of digital technologies-crypto, blockchain, decentralized finance, semantic web, NFT, virtual worlds, and metaverse have been proclaimed as the next big trend in business management (Rudman & Bruwer, 2016). Collectively, these technologies and others like them form the framework for "Web 3.0": the third major iteration of the Internet that is decentralized for greater security, personalization, and freedom of exchange.
According to consulting firm McKinsey (2022), "The Metaverse, and Web3 more generally, is the biggest growth opportunity of the next decade ... given the breadth of potential applications and uses and the degree of investment by major technology companies, venture capital, corporations, and brands. Many industries are already implementing metaverse initiatives, although most of the efforts to date have been focused on marketing." All management disciplines are involved, from Marketing to Logistics, HR, IS, Finance and of course Strategy.
With the advent of Web 3.0, researchers now have the opportunity to (re) conceptualize, (re) examine, and (re) reconfigure existing constructs, theories, propositions, and models, as well as the way businesses are run. It also allows us to reflect on past ontologies, terminologies, assumptions, and research outcomes that remain to be defined as we move forward. In light of these perspectives, this research day aims to highlight innovative research that addresses the challenges and opportunities for businesses and educational institutions in the context of Metaverse and Web 3.0 more broadly.
Articles and ongoing research on any topic related to Web 3 and management are of course welcome. In particular but not limited:
Submissions to the conference may be made in the form of (a) full papers or (b) long abstracts, although authors are encouraged to submit full papers. Papers submitted should be a maximum of 5 pages in French or English, times 12, single-spaced and with 2.5 margins (excluding the initial page containing titles, abstracts and keywords in French and English, author(s) contact information, and excluding bibliographic references and appendices).
There is no limit as it relates final paper length.
Template Word file:
Submitted papers will first be reviewed by the organizers to decide on their suitability for the scope of the conference. All contributions that fit the scope will undergo a thorough review process. They will be evaluated by at least two experts in the field on the basis of relevance, originality, significance, quality and clarity. Reviewers will be selected primarily from the reviewing committee.
If manuscripts are accepted, or conditionally accepted, authors will have several weeks to possibly revise, upon request, their first draft of submitted manuscripts based on the reviewers' comments and send a paper along with the other files required for accepted papers (specific information about the final files will be provided upon acceptance).Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings. It is mandatory that at least one author of each accepted paper be registered by April 3, 2023. Accepted papers not meeting this requirement, but registered after this deadline, will be invited to be presented at the conference, but will NOT be included in the proceedings.
Each registered researcher will receive a free copy of the proceedings.
At least one of the authors will have to register and present the paper in order to include the paper in the conference proceedings.
